The Eastern men’s and women’s track and field teams wanted the conference titles.
And both teams earned them on Friday and Saturday in Lantz Fieldhouse.
The Panthers claimed both Ohio Valley Conference Championships after not claiming a single conference title last season, both indoor and outdoor.
Of the men’s nine conference championship winners, seven of them were not seniors. So that will be exciting for the next couple of seasons.
Perhaps the most exciting to watch, of course, are freshmen Tyler Carter and Zye Boey.
Carter won the 60-meter hurdles, finished fifth in the long jump and finished fourth in the triple jump.
And Boey, what’s not to like about this guy? He’s an NCAA provisional qualifier as a red-shirt freshman and has a chance to compete at the NCAA Championships.

It’ll be exciting in the next couple of weeks to watch Boey and senior David Holm.
The two will have a chance to compete at the NCAA Championships, and maybe a national title.
