10/21: Pet Blog: Crazy, but cool

By Sam Sottosanto/Online Reporter

Everyone’s heard of Bubbles,, Michael Jackson’s pet monkey. But would a monkey really make a good pet?

There’s always the argument that, yeah, this is a wild animal, he can kill you… but so can rottweilers, and no one thinks twice when they see someone walking down the street with one.

I think with almost any bigger animal, you always run the risk of getting hurt because they are strong enough to hurt you. Just like if you know a human who is stronger and bigger than you, there may be a possibility that they can hurt you too (however small).

In my opinion, animals have hearts just as humans do. And as long as the animal has a good heart and loves you, then I think it’s all right.
Here are some crazy (but cool) animals I think would be awesome if we were allowed to have them as pets.

(1) Dolphins.
I think a dolphin would make a good pet, because number one they are so awesome. They’re beautiful creatures. Just watching them swim amazes me. Of course, you’d probably have to be a millionaire in order to keep a dolphin, seeing as it will need a lot of space to swim. Technically, you could have a swimming pool and swim with your pet dolphin. That would be so amazing.
(2) Otters.
I have always thought that otters are the cutest little animals. They are fast swimmers and can be funny when playing with other otters. They can eat up to 30-40 percent of the own body weight in one day, so they might cost a lot to take care of, seeing as otters are an average sized animal to begin with.

(3) Elephants.
Elephants are like humans in a way, because they have a really intact memory. They can remember things from 20 years past. They can also live to be 70 years old. That means you would never have to worry about your pet passing away. Plus, if you had a pet elephant, you would not need a bike or a car to get from place to place — just hop on your elephant!
