3/9: Health blog: Headache home remedies

So, I was at work last night, and boy was it brutal. I had the most awful headache that I could not get rid of for anything. I usually like to keep a pack of Advil in my purse just in case I need it, but it was just my luck: I was all out.

If you ever find yourself in a situation like this, never fear: there are a few home remedies that you can try. Here are a few that I stumbled upon last night.

1. Thumb and Index Finger Method. First, find the pressure point between your thumb and index finger. Apply as much pressure to it as you possibly can. As you’re applying the pressure, you’ll slowly notice your headache disappearing.

2. The Rotating Pressure Method. Find the area on your head where the pain is most consistent. Apply pressure there, with your index finger and thumb. Make sure to do this for at least 15 seconds straight, and then release. Repeat this a few times and your headache should be cured.

3. What to drink. Drinking water or caffeine can help reduce your headache. Water is good for you since dehydration can be the cause of many headaches. Caffeine, on the other hand, is another good option because it restricts blood vessels. However, if you drink caffeine all the time, it’s probably a better idea to just stick with drinking water.

4. Bite your tongue. And bite it hard, as much as you can stand. Stay that way for about 10 seconds. This is said to help your headache go away.

5. The eye socket method. There are two pressure points in your eye sockets. They are at the inside ends of your eyebrows, which is above the bridge of your nose. Gently massage this area for half a minute.

And if anyone has any home remedies themselves, please do not be afraid to share!
