On Friday, Jason Mraz and Billy “Bushwalla” Galewood visited Eastern and played at show at the Lantz Arena. The show was part of Mraz’s Music Magic and Make Peace Tour. 
American English, a world-renowned Beatles cover band, came to campus on Friday to play at Eastern’s end of the year celebration. Online Reporter Kevin Kenealy was on hand to catch the band in action and to talk to a few American English fans in attendance.

This year’s person of the year is Ken Baker.Baker was named interim AD on Aug. 21 and was a referee at this year’s Super Bowl. In the video, Baker discusses his reaction to being named interim AD and his family’s history at Eastern.
This year’s coach of the year was Brady Sallee, head coach of the women’s basketball team. Sallee led the team to the Ohio Valley Conference tournament, and the team finished just one win away from the NCAA Tournament. Rachel Galligan, one of Sallee’s players, was also named female athlete of the year. To check out our interview with Sallee, click here!
This year’s female athlete of the year was dual-sport athlete Rachel Galligan. Galligan was Eastern women’s basketball leading scorer this past season and led the Panthers to within one win of the NCAA Tournament. She constantly faced double and triple-teams, yet still managed to earn her second straight first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference honor. 
Throughout the Fall 2007 and Spring 2008 semesters, The Daily Eastern News has picked 26 athletes as their Top Cats of the week, with nearly every Eastern sport being represented. 
This year’s male athlete of the year was soccer player Mick Galeski. Galeski lead the league this past season with 12 assists and had a total of 28 points for the Panthers; Galeski also scored eight goals.
